Road Safety and Public Order Push: Sri Sathya Sai Police Intensify Enforcement

Law enforcement in Sri Sathya Sai district is executing a targeted campaign to curb criminal activity and road hazards. During a media briefing in Puttaparthi on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar detailed an aggressive strategy focusing on public intoxication and traffic violations to stabilize law and order.

Enforcement Data and Legal Penalties

Statistical records from the last six months reveal a significant uptick in police intervention regarding road safety. Authorities successfully prosecuted a large portion of violators to deter reckless behavior across the region. The data highlights include:

• Drunk Driving: 364 cases registered, with 254 resulting in court-mandated charge sheets.
• Financial Penalties: Courts imposed fines totaling ₹25.40 lakh for impaired driving.
• Public Intoxication: 2,248 cases were filed against individuals drinking in public, yielding ₹8,56,400 in collected fines.

Mr. Satish Kumar identified these enforcement levels as some of the highest recorded in the State. The department aims to prioritize life-saving initiatives by maintaining a constant presence on the roads and in shared public spaces.

Targeting Habitual Offenders

The district is employing stricter judicial measures for those who repeatedly ignore the law. Beyond financial penalties, the police have utilized the Motor Vehicles Act to revoke the driving privileges of eight chronic violators. Additionally, four individuals characterized as serious or habitual offenders were remanded to judicial custody.

The SP urged residents to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and cooperate with ongoing safety drives. By sustaining these regular crackdowns on anti-social activities, the administration intends to transition Sri Sathya Sai into a fundamentally safer and crime-free district.
