Revised Dress Codes for Female and Male Staff
The Health Department of Puducherry has formally institutionalized a new dress code for its nursing cadre, impacting various administrative and clinical tiers. Under the fresh guidelines, female professionals across the Nursing Officer, Senior Nursing Officer, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, and Deputy Nursing Superintendent ranks will transition to a camel-colored salwar suit paired with a white overcoat.
Male colleagues will adopt a coordinated palette consisting of coffee-colored trousers and camel-colored formal shirts. Like their female counterparts, male nurses are required to wear a white overcoat over their primary attire.
Sleeve Designations and Implementation Timeline
Functional hierarchy within the department will be indicated by specific garment details. The government order specifies that:
- Nursing Officers: Required to wear half-sleeved white overcoats.
- Senior Nursing Officers and Superintendents: Required to wear full-sleeved white overcoats.
