Three people have been arrested by Sri Sathya Sai district police in connection with the murder of Dasari Srinivasulu, an incident reported on August 9. Among those detained is the president of the Dharmavaram Assembly constituency's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
What Happened
The arrested individuals were identified as YSRCP leader Gadipudi Gangadhar Naidu, 42, and two associates, Bala Charan Kumar, 28, and Gujjala Gangadhar, also known as Erikili Gangadhar, 35. All three are residents of Dharmavaram.
According to police statements, Gadipudi Gangadhar Naidu and the victim, Dasari Srinivasulu, who were childhood friends and political allies, had developed personal and political disagreements. A financial dispute also reportedly contributed to the conflict.
Gangadhar Naidu allegedly feared harm from Srinivasulu and, with the help of his associates, planned the murder. The trio reportedly transported Srinivasulu in an SUV to the Dharmavaram Cheruvu waterbody. There, they allegedly attacked him with a stick and a boulder before disposing of his body in the water.
Police have recovered the SUV believed to have been used in the crime, a motorcycle, and three mobile phones. A boulder and blood-stained clothing were also confiscated from the waterbody location after initial interrogations.
The three accused have been sent for remand.
