Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla presented the mobile phones to the owners at the District Police Office in Cuddalore on Wednesday. These phones were retrieved after individuals filed complaints at various police stations across the district regarding their missing devices. The Cybercrime police utilized the IMEI numbers of the phones to trace and recover them.
The police advised citizens to register online complaints through the Department of Telecommunication’s Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal at in case of mobile phone loss. Alternatively, complaints can be filed directly with the local police station.
Superintendent of Police Shukla also issued a warning to the public regarding the sharing of bank account details with potential fraudsters for illicit transactions. He urged anyone approached for such information or whose accounts might be misused to immediately contact the cybercrime helpline at 1930 or report the incident via the national cybercrime portal.
