Simon Levy sentenced to whole life tariff for double murder and rape

What Happened

Simon Levy has received a whole-life tariff for the murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins. The sentencing, delivered by the recorder of London, Mark Lucraft KC, at the Old Bailey, also included life sentences with minimum terms of 12 years for two rape charges. These sentences will be served concurrently with the whole-life orders.

Levy was convicted of murdering Valencia-Trujillo in March 2025 and Wilkins five months later. He was also found guilty of raping and assaulting a third woman in January 2025, who survived and provided testimony. Levy showed no visible emotion during the sentencing.

Background

Levy, from Tottenham in north London, had an extensive history of sexual offending, having been jailed in 2021 for two sexual assaults and was on the sex offender register. He was on bail as a suspect for the first murder when he committed the second, following errors by police who reportedly lacked sufficient evidence to charge him earlier. Months before the first killing, British Transport Police arrested Levy for sexual assaults on trains but delayed charging him. While on bail, he committed further attacks across London.
