Opposition Rejects Cabinet Shifting as a Solution

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi escalated his critique of the Union government on Saturday, asserting that a mere administrative transfer for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan would fail to satisfy national grievances. Speaking after a consultation with student demonstrators, Gandhi addressed reports regarding internal discussions within Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet to move Pradhan to a different portfolio rather than removing him from the executive branch.

Gandhi stated that such a shuffle remains unacceptable to the student body. He insisted that the minister serves as a symbol of systemic failures and alleged corruption that have jeopardized the prospects of India’s youth. According to the opposition leader, the demand for a total dismissal is the primary objective of current demonstrations.

Three Non-Negotiable Demands

During a press briefing on July 25, 2026, Gandhi outlined the specific requirements established by the protesters, emphasizing that these terms are not open to compromise. The demands focus on accountability for recent academic disruptions:

• Dismissal of the Minister: The immediate removal of Dharmendra Pradhan from his post, citing incompetence and misalignment with the ministry's needs.
• Accountability for Failures: Redressal for the damage caused to the national education infrastructure and the security of competitive exams.
• Systemic Reform: Addressing the root causes of the irregularities that triggered the public outcry.

Jantar Mantar Protests Enter Second Month

The political friction coincides with an enduring sit-in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the movement has now sustained its presence for over thirty days. These protesters continue to seek high-level accountability following a series of alleged paper leaks and procedural irregularities within the NEET and various other entrance examinations. Gandhi maintains that moving the minister "here or there" or shifting him to the background will not quiet the unrest, as the youth increasingly view Pradhan as the personification of the destruction of their future opportunities.
