President Awards 78 Gallantry Medals to Defence and CAPF Personnel

President Droupadi Murmu has sanctioned 78 gallantry awards for personnel serving in the armed forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The honours, announced ahead of Independence Day, include 13 individuals recognised posthumously.

The President's approval encompasses a total of 78 gallantry awards. Among these are nine Kirti Chakras, with seven awarded posthumously. Additionally, one Bar to Shaurya Chakra, 19 Shaurya Chakras (including one posthumous award), five Bars to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 36 Sena Medals (Gallantry) with five posthumous, three Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), and five Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry) were approved.
