Authorities have apprehended a 75-year-old man on allegations of fraud and impersonation related to a property transaction. The suspect, identified as Ramachandra Venkatesh Deshpande, is accused of posing as the original owner of a parcel of land who had passed away many years ago.

What Happened

According to official reports, Deshpande allegedly presented himself as the deceased owner of a property in Badala Ankalgi village. He is accused of attempting to sell this land to a third party. The incident involved the accused visiting the Belagavi sub-registrar’s office, where he had his photograph taken and provided thumb impressions while claiming to be the legitimate owner. The authorities stated that he entered into an agreement to sell the property, defrauding the buyer who is also considered an accused in the case.

Background

The land in question, totaling 7 acres and 32 guntas, was originally purchased in 1998 by the complainant’s grandfather, Mashanu Jayappa Gurav, and his brothers. This purchase was made from Chidambar Sripad Kulkarni and Ramesh Digambar Kulkarni. The case was initiated following a complaint lodged by Srishail Dattatrey Guruv, aged 29.
