Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan calls for informed youth for strong democracy

What Happened

During the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan reviewed the parade at the District Police Grounds and addressed the youth. He urged young people to think before believing information, to question before following, and to inquire before making decisions. He stated that in the information-saturated era, speed is not equivalent to truth and stressed the need for informed citizens rather than blind followers to sustain a strong democracy.

Mr. Kalyan asserted that youth now hold control over mobile devices, technology, information, voting rights, and talent, and he framed the future of both the country and its youth as interdependent. He called on the younger generation to keep ideas free, dissent against injustice, seek change, and be willing to question government policies while avoiding a judgment that leads to destruction if problems arise.

Reflecting on his own public service, he claimed he has previously worked for people’s issues without promoting violence or social division. He also recalled the role of past freedom fighters and said each generation bears responsibility for its era, noting that the current generation should contribute to nation-building.

Finally, he described youth interaction as an engagement with India’s future and urged creating opportunities, stating there is no lack of talent in the country.
