The directive was issued on Tuesday while reviewing development works in Bengaluru South City Corporation.
The buffer road project includes two sections: a 2.45 km stretch from Lower Agaram Road to Ejipura Road and a 3 km section from Ejipura Road to Sarjapur Road. The Defence Department has allocated 5.34 acres of land for the project near Ejipura. Progress reports indicate that approximately 90% of the retaining wall construction is finished, with drainage and footpath works currently in progress.

Mr. Rao instructed officials to incorporate road designs that promote rainwater percolation into the ground where possible. Given that S.T. Bed Colony is a low-lying area adjacent to the buffer road, he also mandated the construction of appropriate stormwater drains within the road's limits to mitigate flooding risks.
Furthermore, Mr. Rao reviewed the status of the Ejipura flyover construction, calling for the deployment of additional personnel to accelerate its completion. He noted that the footpath alongside the service road under the flyover is currently narrow. Following the flyover's completion, he directed that this footpath be widened and a dedicated cycle track be incorporated. This cycle track must be designed to prevent unauthorized access by two-wheelers.
Officials were also tasked with preparing an estimate for installing adequate lighting beneath the flyover.
