Public Holiday Measures for August 3

In honor of the memorial day of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai, the Erode district administration has designated August 3 as a local holiday. The directive, issued by District Collector S. Kandasamy, applies to all provincial government offices and educational institutions throughout the district.

Impact on Schools and Banking Operations

Despite the closure of regular classes, educational facilities will not cancel pre-existing commitments. The administration confirmed that all examinations previously scheduled for schools and colleges will continue as planned. Banking services also remain unaffected. Because the holiday was not declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, financial institutions will maintain standard operating hours on Monday.

Workplace Adjustments and Essential Services

To ensure no loss of productivity, the district has scheduled a compensatory workday. All government departments and schools will remain open on Saturday, August 22, to offset the mid-week closure. Specific fiscal operations will also persist during the holiday:

  • The District Treasury and Sub-Treasuries will stay open.
  • Designated staff will be present to manage essential state financial duties.
