Dharwad DC Urges Students to Consider Armed Forces for National Service

Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Snehal R. has urged students to aspire to serve the nation by joining the armed forces, police, and other government services. Speaking at the inauguration of an exhibition focused on India’s defence system in Dharwad on Friday, Ms. Snehal emphasized that such events help students understand national defense capabilities and the operations of the armed forces.

She encouraged students to cultivate an interest in national security and explore avenues for serving the country. Ms. Snehal also advised students to familiarize themselves with the central government’s Agniveer scheme as a potential pathway into the armed forces. She highlighted the significant role of the younger generation in the nation's development, security, and defense, advising them to set ambitious goals.

Brigadier S.G. Bhagwat noted India's advancements in defense production, transitioning from equipment import to exporting items like missiles. He underscored the importance of instilling discipline in youth and called for student contributions to national progress. Mahadev Joshi, president of the Karnataka Education Board, who presided over the event, encouraged students to foster a commitment to national service and be ready for personal sacrifice.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the Karnataka Education Board and local educational institutions, showcased models from approximately 350 students representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, various regiments, and the Border Security Force. These displays offered attendees an overview of the armed forces' different branches and their protective roles.
