Recent conservation initiatives by the forest department along the Thoothukudi coastline have drawn public support for their role in stabilizing the regional ecosystem. The project aims to restore mangrove forests, which act as a natural defense mechanism for coastal villages. These habitats provide several benefits for the local environment:
