Bank of India and ISKCON Partner to Provide Free Meals at Vijayawada General Hospital
The Annamrita Foundation has opened a new canteen at the GGH in Vijayawada to serve free meals to those in need. Supported by Bank of India CSR funds, the initiative targets patients' attendants and the underprivileged.
Humanitarian Initiative Launched on Sri Vyas Purnima
In a coordinated effort to address food insecurity among hospital visitors, ISKCON Vijayawada inaugurated its newest Food for Life canteen on Wednesday. Located at the New Government General Hospital near the Ramavarappadu Ring Road, the facility provides free, sanctified meals, known as prasadam, to the economically disadvantaged and those caring for patients. The launch ceremonies coincided with the observance of Sri Vyas Purnima.
Corporate and Institutional Collaboration
Funding for the project was provided by the Bank of India Social Foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. The partnership ensures that caregivers and visitors at the high-volume state facility have access to nutritious food without financial burden. Key officials present at the opening included:

- V. Bangar Raju, Zonal Manager, Bank of India, Vijayawada Zone
- Nabdwip Mohanty, Deputy Zonal Manager, Bank of India
- Dr. Padmavati and Dr. Surya Manga Devi, representing the Government General Hospital
The Annamrita Foundation, the humanitarian branch of ISKCON, will manage the daily operations of the canteen. By focusing on the attendants of patients, the service fills a gap for families who often travel long distances and lack the resources for consistent nutrition during medical emergencies.
