East Godavari Student Breaks Barriers in Space Science

Kandula Jessie, a tenth-standard student from Zilla Parishad High School in Dhavaleswaram, has secured a place in the historic Mission ShaktiSat program. As the only participant selected from Andhra Pradesh, she joins a select group of 20 girls from across India chosen for this international venture. The project represents the first global effort to develop a lunar CubeSat entirely through the participation of female students.

Academic Path and Training Milestones

Jessie's trajectory toward space exploration began in the seventh grade, fueled by the facilities at her school's Atal Tinkering Lab. Her selection follows a rigorous preparatory phase where she successfully finished 550 distinct sessions spanning 21 academic modules. Currently aiming for a career as an aeronautical engineer, Jessie credits her school’s experimental environment for her technical growth.

Government Support and Sector Expansion

On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resource Development and IT, Nara Lokesh, hosted Jessie and mission officials at his Undavalli residence. During the meeting, the Minister unveiled the official Mission ShaktiSat poster and confirmed the state's intent to support Jessie’s endeavors. The discussion highlighted the following key points regarding the region's aerospace future:

• The establishment of a dedicated Space City Cluster as part of 22 new development zones in the state.
• Increased government backing for young talent entering the high-technology and space sectors.
• The collaborative role of Space Kidz India and the Sanskara Foundation in mentoring local students.

The meeting included Mission ShaktiSat Director Srimathy Kesan, who also serves as the CEO of Space Kidz India, alongside school faculty and foundation representatives. The mission serves as a benchmark for female representation in aerospace engineering on a global scale.
