The Solar System Nearly Had 12 Planets Before Pluto Was Demoted

Two sources recount that a 2006 IAU draft proposed expanding to 12 planets, including Pluto, Ceres, Charon, and 2003 UB313 (Eris). The final 2006 resolution instead defined eight planets and named Pluto a dwarf planet.
