Coastal Campaign Marks New Regional Infrastructure

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is launching a public outreach campaign centered on the inauguration of the Alluri Sitharama Raju airport. Scheduled for July 31, the local administration will host a series of collective activities starting at 6 a.m. at R.K. Beach. These events serve to prepare the city for the formal commissioning of the new aviation hub on August 1.

The 'Proudly Vizag' Framework

Operating under the thematic banner of 'Proudly Vizag,' the morning schedule will feature a Mega Flash Mob and a coordinated Beach Walk. GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has invited a broad cross-section of society to participate, aiming for high visibility and public enthusiasm regarding the infrastructure upgrade. The mobilization effort focuses on various sectors of the community, including:

  • Government and Civic Staff: Personnel from various state departments and GVMC employees.
  • Youth and Education: Local students and athletes from regional sports programs.
  • Civil Society: Representatives from Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and diverse voluntary organizations.
  • General Public: Residents are encouraged to join the walk as a gesture of civic support for the regional development project.

By organizing these large-scale gatherings the day before the airport officially opens, municipal leaders intend to generate widespread awareness of the project's completion and its impact on the region's connectivity.
