Tesla Launches New 3-Phase Powerwall 3P Battery System in Netherlands

What Happened

Tesla has launched its latest generation battery storage system, the 3-phase Powerwall 3P, in the Netherlands. This new model integrates Tesla Home, an energy management system designed for optimizing energy use and maximizing savings. The Powerwall 3P is designed to store excess solar energy generated during the day and supply it back when needed, such as at night or during peak grid times. It also provides three-phase backup power for homes during outages, capable of powering high-demand appliances like heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers.

The system features four Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs) to accommodate various roof orientations and shading conditions. Its low starting voltage allows for utilization of small surfaces with as few as two modules. The Powerwall 3P is compatible with both DC- and AC-coupled solar installations, suitable for new builds and retrofits. It includes an active thermal management system, similar to that in Tesla vehicles, ensuring performance across a temperature range of -20°C to 50°C. The unit is built to withstand extreme weather and is flood-resistant up to 60 cm.

The Powerwall 3P follows previous iterations, including the Powerwall 1 (2015), Powerwall 2 (2017), and Powerwall 3 (2024). Globally, over 1,000,000 Powerwalls have been installed to date.
