Telangana Govt Authorizes HMDA to Issue Transferable Development Rights

The Telangana government has issued directives enabling the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to grant Transferable Development Rights (TDRs). This authority extends to projects undertaken by the HMDA within the Core Urban Region (CURE), the Peri Urban Region (PURE), and the Secunderabad Cantonment area.

TDRs are provided as an alternative to monetary compensation when land is acquired for public projects. Holders of these rights can use them to construct additional floors on their properties or sell them at their current market value. The TDRs issued by HMDA can be utilized anywhere within the HMDA jurisdiction. The orders specify that a copy of the TDR Certificate or proceedings issued by HMDA must be submitted to the relevant urban local body or the Future City Development Authority for their records.
