The Fourth Unit of the Srisailam Left Bank Hydro-Electric Station (SLBHES), which has a capacity of 150 megawatts, has resumed operations. This recommissioning follows a period of nearly six years where the unit was non-operational, having been out of order since August 20, 2020, after a significant fire incident.
A trial run for Unit-4 was conducted in the early hours of August 11. Following approval from the Chief Electrical Inspector for generation charging, and after completing all prerequisite tests, the unit was successfully synchronized with the power grid. The Telangana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (TG-Genco) officials oversaw the process.
Further adjustments, including dynamic balancing and turbine auto-tuning, commenced on Tuesday morning to ensure the unit's stable performance. This latest restart follows previous attempts. The unit was initially recommissioned on October 2, 2025, but tripped shortly after due to air gap protection. Prior to that, an initial trial run and commissioning on July 29, 2023, ended after approximately 80 hours when the unit tripped on August 17.
