Former Minister Seediri Appala Raju Granted Bail in Road Accident Case

Senior YSR Congress Party leader and former Minister Seediri Appala Raju was released from Srikakulam District Jail on Friday, August 14, 2026. The Sompeta court granted him bail.

Mr. Appala Raju was arrested on July 22, 2026. The charges against him relate to allegedly misleading the Police Department regarding a road accident case where his son, Seediri Arav, is the prime accused. A shepherd named Dubba Danayya died on July 10 after being struck by a speeding motorcycle near Kasibugga.

Initially, police arrested Mr. Arav’s friend, Siddardh. However, in the second week of July, authorities arrested Mr. Arav, reportedly after determining he was the one who hit the shepherd with the motorcycle. Police then accused Mr. Appala Raju of attempting to protect his son by implicating Mr. Siddarth, leading to his arrest.

Following Mr. Appala Raju’s release, YSRCP leaders Dharmana Prasada Rao, Dharmana Krishnadas, and Yenni Dhanunjaya Rao expressed support. Mr. Prasada Rao stated that the court had intervened despite the government allegedly fabricating a false case against Mr. Appala Raju.
