The inauguration included the opening of two plug and play buildings, constructed for ₹51.80 crore. These buildings span 200,000 sq.ft. and offer essential services such as water and power supply, fire safety equipment, and office spaces. This model provides customized infrastructure beyond just land, differing from previous government provisions.
Additionally, a three-story administrative building costing ₹26 crore was opened, covering approximately 100,000 sq.ft. This building includes a conference hall and a canteen. For employee well-being, a medical center and a childcare facility were also inaugurated.
The Panapakkam SIPCOT complex, spread across 1,200 acres, has attracted significant investment, including a ₹9,000 crore car manufacturing plant by JLR and Tata Motors. This plant, inaugurated in February, is projected to produce 250,000 vehicles annually over the next five to seven years for both domestic and international markets, initially creating 5,000 local jobs and potentially expanding to 25,000 within five years.
The remaining area in the complex is designated for a ₹400 crore footwear manufacturing park, expected to generate around 20,000 jobs, primarily for women. This park aims to reduce the region's reliance on imported raw materials like soles and heels from China by enabling local manufacturing.
