What Happened

The "Rachnatmak Congress", a division of the Congress party collaborating with civil society, is scheduled to hold a national convention in New Delhi. The two-day event, set for Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13, 2026, will concentrate on key societal issues such as education, unemployment, social and economic justice, and environmental concerns.

The convention aims to facilitate discussions on public matters and shape the Congress party's political and organizational direction. Representatives from across India are expected to attend. According to Sandeep Dikshit, president of Rachnatmak Congress, the convention's goal is to prioritize public concerns within the discussions. Approximately 400 delegates are anticipated on the first day, with around 600 expected on the second day. Dikshit stated that the initial day would concentrate on internal organizational matters and future party strategies, with a review of these deliberations occurring on the subsequent day.

An "open session" is also planned to offer a direct channel for individuals to voice their concerns and receive direct responses.
