Prime Video Sets August Premiere for Karan Johar’s The Traitors Season 2

Prime Video announced on Monday, July 27, 2026, that the second installment of the reality competition series The Traitors will debut on August 13. Hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, the Indian adaptation follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes arriving every Thursday.

Global Format Meets Local Strategy

This reality format, distributed by All3Media International, has seen success in 40 territories worldwide. The Indian iteration is a joint production between Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment and All3Media. Sabrina Duguet, EVP of APAC for All3Media International, stated that the partnership with Prime Video India aims to provide a version that remains authentic to the original mechanics while catering to local sensibilities. Duguet noted that the inaugural season successfully connected with the regional audience through its combination of celebrity participation and tactical gameplay.

Roster and Competitive Framework

The upcoming season involves 21 high-profile participants competing for a significant cash prize through psychological warfare and social manipulation. The production team at Dharmatic Entertainment characterized the new season as a deliberate expansion of the show's intellectual challenges, moving away from traditional reality television tropes to emphasize raw and unpredictable human behavior.

Retrospective of the Debut Season

The first season, which ran from June 12 to July 3 of the previous year, established the series as a significant entry in the Indian streaming market. Notable participants from that cycle included:

  • Raj Kundra
  • Mukesh Chhabra
  • Karan Kundrra
  • Ashish Vidyarthi
  • Maheep Kapoor
  • Uorfi Javed

The debut season concluded after ten episodes, with Uorfi Javed and Nikita Luther emerging as the winners. The producers indicated that the second cycle will maintain the intense, edge-of-the-seat atmosphere that defined the show's initial success.
