Police in Kuruppampady have initiated criminal proceedings against a Plus Two student at a school in Keezhillam, situated near Perumbavoor. The legal action follows an incident on Thursday involving approximately 15 students who allegedly cornered and physically harmed a 16-year-old Plus One student inside the school's restroom. While the initial police response was tempered by the age of the participants, investigators moved to file a case on Tuesday after confirming that one individual among the group had reached the age of 18.

The identified adult student currently faces charges related to assault and the formation of an unlawful assembly. However, the scope of the prosecution could expand depending on administrative findings. Law enforcement officials stated that provisions under the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act will be added to the case once a formal report from the school administration confirms the specific nature of the offense.

Because the majority of the students involved in the confrontation are minors, the police previously refrained from filing a standard First Information Report against the collective group.
