Phantom Blade Zero: State of Play to Reveal New Gameplay, Pre-orders Open

Sony will host a special State of Play presentation on August 17, 2026, dedicated to the upcoming action RPG, Phantom Blade Zero. The broadcast, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM PT (10:00 PM ET), will feature almost 20 minutes of new gameplay footage. This presentation aims to provide a more comprehensive look at the game's combat system, build customization, and its dark Wuxia-inspired world.

The developers, S-Game, indicated that previously released trailers could not fully capture the complexity of the game's systems. The State of Play will introduce key characters central to the narrative and demonstrate the varied ways players can tailor their character builds. Early glimpses in a pre-order trailer included action sequences on a moving vehicle and a duel with former allies, setting the stage for the protagonist Soul's journey.

Internationally renowned martial artist and actor Donnie Yen is contributing to the game's development. Yen has been serving as a Creative Consultant since 2023, lending his expertise to shape an authentic kung fu combat experience. He is also involved in facial and motion capture for the character of Mó Yuan, the protagonist's father.
