Fatal Sequence on Melmangalam Road

A transport operation turned fatal on Sunday when a tractor carrying M-sand veered off its path near Periyakulam. The vehicle, operated by 50-year-old Saktivel, lost stability while traveling from Melmangalam Road. The subsequent impact with a roadside electric pole caused the heavy structure to collapse directly onto the vehicle, resulting in the immediate death of both occupants.

Victims and Law Enforcement Response

Official reports identified the deceased as:

  • Saktivel, 50, a resident of Illangovan Street, Kailasapatti.
  • Ravichandran, 37, also of Illangovan Street, Kailasapatti.

The Jayamangalam police arrived at the scene to recover the bodies and secure the area. Investigators have officially registered a case to determine if mechanical failure or driver error caused the vehicle to lose control. The inquiry into the specific circumstances surrounding the crash is currently active.
