Over 80% of enumeration forms digitised in Belagavi district

Officers on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty have digitised over 80% of enumeration forms in Belagavi district.

“There are 41.07 lakh voters in the district. Out of these, the forms filled and submitted by 33,10,399 voters have been digitised,” Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said here on Friday.

“The rate of digitisation in Belagavi is higher than that of the State’s average which is around 70%. Our officers have managed to achieve this in a big district like Belagavi,” he said.

“The digitisation rate in 16 Assembly constituencies in Belagavi is more than 80%. In Belagavi south seat, around 65% of the forms have been digitised and in Belagavi north, it is around 59%. The next phase of this exercise will be publishing the draft electoral rolls, and that will happen on August 18. If there are any eligible voters who are left out, they will be enrolled using Form 6,” he said.

As per the guidelines of the Central Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, we have informed the representatives of political parties about the SIR progress. The BLOs are coordinating with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to delete the names of the dead or shift the names of those who have moved away within Assembly constituencies or in the district, he said.

To a query on the demand by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti leaders seeking enumeration forms in Marathi language, the Deputy Commissioner said he had not got any formal requests. The BLOs are carrying copies of directives in multiple languages that are being used to explain rules to voters, he said.

Meanwhile, City corporation commissioner and chief electoral registration officer Karthik M. held a meeting to review the progress of the SIR exercise. He said that the SIR duty officers would consider all complaints and suggestions of elected representatives and BLAs and respond to them properly.

The BLOs have distributed 100% of enumeration forms by going door-to-door. In some areas, filing in the forms and submitting them is getting delayed. This can be speeded up by working with the BLAs. Requests for transfer of names between booths would be considered before August 8.

Deputy Commissioners of the corporation Siddu Hulloli and Udayakumar T. answered the questions of the BLAs. Mayor Preeti Kamakar, Deputy Mayor Hanamant Kongali, BCC members, BLAs and others were present.
