Officials tell GMR to finish pending works at Bhogapuram airport before Modi’s visit

Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu and other senior officials directed GMR group representatives to complete all pending works as early as possible, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Bhogapuram international airport on August 1, 2026. Along with Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan, he inspected the pending works at the airport premises on Friday (July 24, 2026).

According to sources, the State government is taking steps on a war footing to complete pending works on the approach road and others. As only one week is left for the Prime Minister’s visit, the government is keen to have everything in order within a couple of days.

As over one lakh people are likely to attend the public meeting, the main venue works are being given top priority at the airport premises. The government will arrange around 2,000 buses for people to attend the inaugural function. As many as 6,000 private vehicles are expected on the inaugural day.

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar and other senior officials have been monitoring security arrangements for the visit. The police department has been coordinating with the security agencies of the Union government to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the Prime Minister and other VIPs on the day.
