Yuva Morcha protest march to Kerala CM’s official residence over PSC exam ‘anomalies’ turns violent

Violent scenes were witnessed at Devaswom Board junction in the State capital following a protest march taken out by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the young wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to the Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister of Kerala, on Friday (July 24, 2026).
The BJYM marched to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan's official residence accusing him of failing to take concrete action in the alleged anomalies in some examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commission (PSC). The Yuva Morcha alleged double standards on the part of the Chief Minister in taking part in the protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in Delhi demanding action on the NEET paper leaks.

When the march was stopped at the Devaswom Board junction, protestors attempted to scale the barricades, prompting the police to use water cannons to push them back. The protestors refused to disperse despite the police firing multiple rounds from the water cannons.
Later, leaders, including B.B. Gopakumar MLA and BJP State general secretary S. Suresh, addressed the protestors.
The protest is seen as part of attempts in several States by the BJP to counter the student agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Delhi, which is being supported by the Opposition parties, including the Congress.
Two days ago, the BJP had organised a similar protest march to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
