Director Nitesh Tiwari has released the first visual teaser for his cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana. The footage features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role alongside a first look at Yash as the antagonist Ravana.
A Cinematic Vision of Ancient India
On April 2, 2026, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti, Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations shared the initial footage of their highly anticipated adaptation of the Ramayana. The teaser shifts from sweeping panoramic shots of an epic battlefield to a focused introduction of actor Ranbir Kapoor as Rama. Positioned against a rising sun, the character is depicted walking through a shower of flower petals, adorned in gold ornaments and maintaining a composed expression.
The Internal Struggle of the Ideal Protagonist
Director Nitesh Tiwari emphasizes that the film focuses on the emotional complexities of the mythological figure rather than just the supernatural elements. Ranbir Kapoor stated that his approach to the role involves learning from the character's inherent purity rather than simply representing the deity. The production team aims to highlight the theme of duty over desire, viewing Rama's choices as a guide for resolving conflict through sacrifice and selfless action.
