XandY Learning has announced the fourth installment of its prestigious academic competition, expanding beyond Kerala to major cities. The initiative provides students in grades 5-10 with a rigorous platform to test analytical skills and earn substantial scholarships.

The National Science and Maths Championship (NSMC) 2026 is set to broaden its geographical footprint, transitioning from a Kerala-based event to a multi-state competition. Scheduled for November 1, 2026, the fourth edition will host participants in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kerala. This expansion by XandY Learning addresses an increasing local demand for early-stage competitive testing, allowing students to benchmark their intellectual standing against a wider pool of peers across South India.
Curriculum Design and Digital Format
Developed by a collaborative panel of IIT and NIT alumni alongside medical professionals, the NSMC targets students from Class 5 through Class 10. The competition utilizes a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format to build digital literacy and examination discipline. Organizers emphasize that the assessment avoids rote learning, focusing instead on the practical application of concepts, logical reasoning, and efficient time management.
Examination Structure and Scoring
The 60-minute digital exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. To mirror the rigor of national-level entrance tests, the scoring system includes a +4 reward for correct answers and a -1 penalty for incorrect responses. The subject breakdown is tailored by grade level:
- Classes 5–7: 20 Science questions, 20 Mathematics questions, and 10 Mental Ability Test (MAT) questions.
- Classes 8–10: 10 questions each for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and MAT.
Awards, Career Guidance, and Enrollment
The 2026 edition features a financial incentive package including a ₹2.5 lakh cash prize pool and over ₹10 lakh in academic scholarships. Top performers in each grade bracket will receive individual cash awards ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹15,000. Beyond the competitive aspect, registered students gain access to specialized career awareness sessions led by industry veterans and academics to discuss future educational pathways.
Registration is currently open via the official portal at nsmc.xandylearning.com with a fee of ₹200. The deadline for enrollment is October 10, 2026, with results slated for release on November 15, 2026.
