Kerala Higher Secondary Transfers: Malappuram Leads as Over 31,000 Students Shift Seats
Malappuram district accounts for over a quarter of Kerala's school and course transfers as 8,329 students secure new placements. State-wide data reveals over 40,000 vacancies still exist following the latest allotment round.
Regional Breakdown of Transfer Outcomes
Educational authorities have processed 50,568 confirmed online applications for school and course transfers across Kerala, resulting in successful allotments for 31,496 students. Malappuram emerged as the district with the highest activity, where 8,329 students out of 13,143 confirmed applicants secured their requests. In neighboring Kozhikode, 4,055 students were successful from 6,662 applicants, while Palakkad saw 3,487 transfers from a pool of 5,314 confirmed applications. Thrissur recorded 2,395 successful transfers.
Statistical Shifts in Schools and Courses
The distribution of these changes across the state highlights diverse student priorities. Out of the total transfers, 24,594 students moved to different schools, and 6,902 opted for a course change. A significant group of 13,795 students adjusted both their institution and their subject combination, while 10,799 individuals changed schools but remained in their original course of study.
In Malappuram specifically, the data breaks down as follows:
- 6,118 students transitioned to a different school.
- 2,211 students changed their course of study.
- 3,452 students moved to a new school while also switching courses.
- 2,666 students changed schools but kept their existing course.
Vacancies and Admission Deadlines
Despite the high volume of transfers, 4,814 students in Malappuram did not receive an allotment. Currently, 40,917 vacancies exist across the state. District-level data shows:
- Malappuram: 4,939 remaining seats
- Thrissur: 3,224 remaining seats
- Palakkad: 2,737 remaining seats
- Kozhikode: 2,724 remaining seats
These allotments utilized merit-seat vacancies remaining after the initial supplementary round. The process also accounted for seats within 120 extra temporary batches authorized in the districts of Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod. Formal admissions for the newly allotted seats are currently underway and will conclude this Thursday.
