Assessment Phase Extended for Central School Framework
The Kerala state government has yet to finalize its stance on the Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) initiative. General Education Minister N. Samsudheen announced on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, that the high-level subcommittee responsible for reviewing the scheme needs additional time to conclude its findings. While the panel was originally expected to deliver its report within a thirty-day window, the Minister noted that several aspects of the program still require internal deliberation.
Composition and Timeline of the Ministerial Panel
The four-member committee tasked with auditing the implementation includes a diverse range of portfolios to ensure a comprehensive review. Led by Minister Samsudheen, the group also features:
- Roji M. John, Minister for Higher Education
- P.C. Vishnunadh, Minister for Tourism
- M. Liju, Minister for Excise
The education chief clarified during a media briefing in the state capital that the subcommittee will convene for one final session before presenting its formal recommendations to the Cabinet. Although the Cabinet is scheduled to discuss PM SHRI during its Wednesday session, official sources suggest a definitive resolution is improbable until the subcommittee formally submits its documentation.
