This specialized 16-coach Freight EMU is based on the Vande Bharat series and is engineered to transport parcels and goods at elevated speeds. Developed by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the train is equipped with advanced propulsion and braking systems. It also features a roller floor for efficient parcel loading, automatic wide sliding doors, temperature-controlled facilities, CCTV surveillance, and fire detection systems.
Technical teams from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and ICF were present during the trial. They assessed various systems, including electrical and propulsion functionality, regenerative energy recovery during braking, thermal performance at high speeds, traction and braking capabilities, and the smoothness of acceleration and deceleration under load, measured through jerk levels.
A railway official stated that the trials aim to provide a thorough evaluation of the train's systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance at high speeds. Successful completion of these tests could enable the train to significantly contribute to fast, safe, and punctual parcel and logistics services within Indian Railways.
