Authorities in Hyderabad have arrested three individuals working in the real estate industry on charges of ganja possession and distribution. The Excise STF-D team apprehended the men in Saroornagar, seizing 11.7 kilograms of the substance, estimated to be worth around ₹6 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Elishala Naveen, 22, Jaka Shikakumar, 26, and Vaidya Jagadeesh, 26. Officials stated that the trio reportedly began consuming ganja after being introduced to it by an individual from Odisha who also worked in their real estate office. This associate is alleged to have facilitated their procurement of the illicit substance.
According to reports, the three men would travel by two-wheeler to Odisha to obtain quantities of ganja ranging from 10 kg to 20 kg. They would then transport the contraband back to Hyderabad for resale with the intention of making a profit.
The STF-D team, under the leadership of CI Nagaraju, intercepted the group as they were allegedly attempting to sell the ganja in Saroornagar. In addition to the 11.7 kg of ganja, their two-wheelers and mobile phones were also confiscated.
In a separate incident, the Medchal-Malkajgiri enforcement team seized 97 grams of hashish oil and 110 grams of ganja from two other individuals, Thota Sagar, 34, and Srikanth Sagar, 32, in the LB Nagar area. A car and mobile phones were seized in this operation as well.
The arrested individuals and the seized contraband from the Saroornagar incident have been transferred to the Saroornagar Excise Station, as confirmed by Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Rao.
