Saroornagar police disrupted a potential criminal operation Sunday night by arresting 22-year-old Mohd. Imran, also known as Ibbu. Authorities apprehended the suspect at approximately 8 p.m. in an open area of Bhagath Singh Nagar following a specific intelligence tip-off. During the search, investigators recovered a mobile phone alongside a country-made pistol and one live round of ammunition.

Interrogations revealed that Imran, an autorickshaw driver currently residing in Shanker Nagar, allegedly purchased the weapon roughly one year ago. He claimed to have paid ₹40,000 to a man named Shakir, a Bihar native he met while employed at a Rajendranagar scrap shop. Police stated that Imran had been concealing the firearm for twelve months and was carrying it on the night of his arrest with the intent to commit an illegal act.

A History of Property Crimes

The suspect is not a new face to law enforcement. A resident originally from Jampaka Sahit village in the Geesugonda mandal of Warangal, Imran discontinued his education after Class VII. His record shows a consistent history of legal infractions across the LB Nagar Zone, totaling 17 registered cases. His criminal footprint includes:

• Seven cases at the Vanasthalipuram Police Station.
• Five cases in LB Nagar.
• Three cases within Chaitanyapuri limits.
• Individual cases registered in both Saroornagar and Hayathnagar.

Ongoing Investigation and Search for Suppliers

While Imran remains in custody, the legal process has shifted toward dismantling the supply chain. Detectives are working to locate Shakir, the alleged source of the weapon, to understand how the firearm entered the city. A formal case is now active as police analyze the suspect's mobile data and interrogation statements to confirm if specific targets were selected for the planned offense.
