Investigation Intensifies Into Fraudulent Land Deal
The investigation into the illegal registration of property belonging to the Palani math reached a new phase on Monday as CB-CID officers interrogated suspended Sub-Registrar Justin Manikandan Subramanian. Subramanian, a primary figure named in the ongoing case, appeared before investigators to address allegations of procedural fraud. This session followed an earlier operation on July 18, when police conducted a formal search of his private residence to gather evidence related to the land transfer.
High Court Mandates Daily Appearances
The interrogation took place under specific legal constraints established by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. On July 17, the court provided Subramanian with interim bail lasting until August 4, but the relief came with mandatory cooperation requirements. To maintain his protection from arrest, the court ordered the suspended official to adhere to the following schedule:
- Report to the CB-CID headquarters daily at 10:30 a.m.
- Maintain this attendance from July 27 through August 3, excluding Sunday.
- Provide full cooperation with the investigative team regarding the math's assets.
The judiciary has scheduled a follow-up hearing for August 4 to deliberate on Subramanian's formal anticipatory bail petition. Until that time, the criminal investigation continues as authorities seek to untangle the logistics of the fraudulent registration and identify any further collaborators in the property seizure.
