Tappachabutra police confirmed the arrest of three individuals on Thursday in connection with a premeditated attack on a woman in the Daibagh area. The suspects, identified as 32-year-old labourer Mohammed Dastagir Shareef (also known as Pappu), 25-year-old labourer Mohd. Osman (alias Addu), and 44-year-old vegetable vendor Mohd. Gulam Nabi Qureshi, allegedly targeted the victim over persistent family and real estate conflicts.

On July 27, the trio arrived at a residence near Samosa Galli via a Honda Activa scooter. Investigators report that Qureshi was armed with a butcher knife at the time. Shareef and Qureshi reportedly breached the home, where they initially struck Shameem Begum, Shareef's sister-in-law, in the neck. When the victim's husband, Mohd Azam Shareef, attempted to shield his wife, the assailants physically restrained and assaulted him.
As the conflict intensified, Begum escaped to a nearby building to seek assistance. The attackers pursued her, dragging her from a staircase before Dastagir Shareef inflicted a stab wound to her abdomen. The assault ended only when local residents began to congregate, prompting the three men to flee the scene.
Legal Actions and Evidence Recovery
Law enforcement officials have since recovered the weapon used in the attack along with the transport vehicle. The case is currently being processed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. The three accused have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues into the exact sequence of events and the depth of the conspiracy.
