Public interest in the Telangana government’s Indiramma Houses scheme has surged, with application numbers quickly exceeding the available inventory. Between the July 20 launch and the afternoon of July 29, the Telangana Housing Board recorded over 11,000 submissions. This initial phase focuses on the Core Urban Region (CURE), offering 7,680 flats across 16 Assembly constituencies. This rollout represents the first step in a broader mandate to construct 100,000 homes within the CURE limits over the next year.
Financial Framework and Eligibility Rules
The state has structured the housing program with a specific subsidy and payment model. While the government provides a ₹5 lakh subsidy per flat, each beneficiary must cover the remaining ₹6 lakh, payable in four installments. Potential homeowners must meet the following financial and residency requirements:
- Applicants must be residents of the specific constituency where they are applying.
- A non-refundable application fee of ₹100 is required.
- A refundable Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹10,000 must be paid during the application stage.
- The final deadline for submissions is August 10, 2026.
Lottery System and Allocation Procedures
Because the volume of interest has already surpassed the supply of units, the Telangana Housing Board will utilize a lottery system to determine final occupants. Authorities indicated that they will select both a primary beneficiary list and a secondary waiting list for each constituency. If a selected individual fails to meet payment obligations or chooses to opt out, the flat will be reassigned to the next person on the waiting list. The Housing Board has established a toll-free helpline (040-24603572) and an Instagram presence (@tghd.official) to address technical issues with the MeeSeva website and clarify EMD refund policies. Queries have even arrived from residents outside the CURE districts, though current eligibility remains restricted to residents within the specified urban boundaries.
