Regional Hydrology Shifts as Storms Subside

Diminishing rainfall patterns across the Belagavi district and neighboring Maharashtra led to a noticeable reduction in the volume of water entering the Krishna River and its primary tributaries this Monday. This climatic shift allowed authorities to restore traffic across the majority of the eight bridge-cum-barrages that had previously been submerged by rising waters.

Current Status of Major Reservoirs

Data from Monday indicates a cooling of the hydraulic pressure from Maharashtra, with discharge figures recorded at approximately 64,373 cusecs. This represents a decrease of 8,385 cusecs compared to Sunday's activity. The regional dam network shows varying stages of storage:

  • Almatti Dam: Current inflow stands at 73,461 cusecs with an outflow of 28,438 cusecs. The facility currently holds 97.2 tmcft of its 123 tmcft maximum capacity.
  • Raja Lakhamagouda Reservoir (Hidkal): Located on the Ghataprabha, this site received 9,788 cusecs in inflow while maintaining a 2,050 cusecs outflow. It currently contains 27 tmcft, approximately half of its 51 tmcft limit.
  • Renuka Sagar Dam: Situated on the Malaprabha, inflow was measured at 2,490 cusecs against an outflow of 1,194 cusecs. Total storage sits at 11.5 tmcft out of a possible 37 tmcft.
