HMR Leadership Targets 10 Stations for Pilot Infrastructure Upgrade

Strategic Overhaul of Commuter Hubs

Ajit Reddy, the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Additional Managing Director, has ordered the creation of customized development agendas for ten pilot stations. The directive follows an extensive on-site audit conducted on Monday, where Reddy assessed infrastructure and operational performance while traveling the corridor from Begumpet to Raidurg. The objective is to refine passenger amenities through localized planning rather than generic maintenance protocols.

Sanitation and Street-Level Management

During his evaluation of the Ameerpet interchange and other high-traffic platforms, Reddy identified significant gaps in the maintenance of central medians located under metro viaducts. He instructed staff to elevate cleanliness standards and address sanitation issues immediately. Key operational priorities identified during the inspection include:

• Parking Optimization: Implementation of systematic management for street-level parking spaces to handle peak-hour volume.
• Commercial Utilization: Analysis of retail spaces developed beneath stations to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Viaduct Upkeep: Improved landscaping and debris removal for medians beneath the rail lines.
• Safety Standards: Strict adherence to security protocols to guarantee a seamless passenger experience.

Operational Oversight

The inspection party included Chief Engineer Y. Sayapa Reddy, Executive Engineer K. Shyam Mohan, and General Manager for Security, Srinath Reddy. The leadership team examined concourses and commercial zones to verify that safety remains the organization's primary focus. Reddy emphasized that the utilization of available space must align with the goal of providing a comfortable and reliable transit environment for daily commuters.
