T. Harish Rao, Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Assembly, has formally requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to immediately halt a proposed auction of 10.63 acres of land located in Raidurg Panmaktha village. The auction was scheduled by TGIIC for August 17 and 21, but Rao contends it should be paused until issues concerning land titles, heritage protection, and ownership rights are resolved.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister on Thursday, Rao highlighted that the land was declared a heritage site through Government Order 4 on January 2, 2003. He emphasized the government's obligation to protect such sites under the Telangana Heritage Act, 2017. Rao referenced a Supreme Court directive from May 7, 2025, which advised the State government to refrain from creating third-party interests while settling the land dispute according to law.
The BRS leader expressed concern that proceeding with the auction, which involves dividing the land into two plots of 5.25 acres and 5.38 acres, would raise questions about administrative propriety and due diligence. Rao reminded Chief Minister Reddy of his own actions in 2020, when he petitioned the High Court seeking protection against third-party interests on land within survey number 83, the same area encompassing the disputed parcel.
Rao urged the Chief Minister to suspend all sale, transfer, registration, and development activities on the 10.63 acres until lawful ownership is established. He also called for an investigation into potentially missing or tampered records related to the heritage property, a review of a previous auction of 6.2 acres including SBI's claim, and an independent inquiry into reported discrepancies in Waqf records.
In addition to heritage concerns, religious institution Jamia Nizamia has also asserted rights over survey number 83 of Raidurg, citing Waqf-related issues. Rao stated that the estimated ₹2,000 crore value of the land should not supersede the fundamental questions of legal ownership and its heritage significance.
