Life near the KCA cricket stadium in Mangalapuram did not initially lead Krishna Devan to the sport. The 27-year-old first gained recognition as a Kerala University javelin champion. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, the self-taught athlete turned toward cricket at age 21, a late start by professional standards. He initially honed his reflexes in tennis ball tournaments before adapting to the professional hard-ball format.

Economic instability and personal setbacks nearly derailed his athletic ambitions. Following the destruction of his equipment and significant losses in the stock market, Devan moved to Bengaluru. For eight months, he worked as a food delivery executive to survive, temporarily setting aside his sporting goals. The tides turned when Sagar, a local club supporter, recognized his talent and provided him with a full kit and five bats. This intervention prompted Devan to return to Kerala and rejoin the Kids Cricket Club.

After an initial rejection during the first Kerala Cricket League season, he commanded attention during the 2025 President’s Cup. Representing the KCA Lions, he hit four sixes in a single final over to secure an improbable victory. This performance led to a 75,000 rupee contract with the Calicut Globstars. His tenure there featured a standout performance where he scored an unbeaten 49 runs from just 11 balls against the Aries Kollam Sailors.

A fractured thumb and subsequent surgery sidelined Devan for five months earlier this year. He successfully returned to form in June during the NSK Trophy T20 tournament, contributing several match-winning performances for Thiruvananthapuram.
