Female Drivers to Operate New Thalli Bidda Express Fleet

The Thalli Bidda Express, a service providing transport for mothers and newborns, will now be operated by female drivers. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav made this announcement while inaugurating a new fleet of 300 modernized vehicles in Narasaraopeta on Tuesday.

The new vehicles are equipped with safety features including six airbags, GPS tracking, and an SOS button. For passenger comfort, they include a footrest, reverse parking sensors, child lock, sliding doors, and handrails. The vehicles also feature temperature-controlled air conditioning specifically designed for newborn babies.

During journeys, the vehicles' audio systems will broadcast information on breastfeeding, newborn care, nutrition, vaccinations, and postnatal care. The initiative aims to ensure zero maternal deaths in the Palnadu district and prevent teenage pregnancies, with the health department committed to safeguarding young mothers during delivery.

The Thalli Bidda Express offers free transportation for women discharged after delivering at government hospitals and transports high-risk pregnant women to medical facilities for timely treatment. Assistance can be requested by dialing 102.
