Professional tennis player Eva Lys, 24, has spoken publicly about the financial challenges she faced earlier in her career. For a significant period, she experienced constant worry about earning enough to sustain herself through the sport.

Lys disclosed in the podcast "Nothing Major Show" that a major concern throughout her life was her financial situation. She explained that prior to her breakthrough at the Australian Open last year, where she reached the Round of 16, she feared financial difficulties due to potential poor performance. She noted that while players ranked around 120 in the world earn some money, it is often insufficient to cover expenses like travel, leaving little surplus. Receiving her first prize money check from the Australian Open brought immense relief, marking a turning point where she no longer had to worry about finances for the year.

Her father trains her and has provided familial support since the beginning of her career. Lys has also been dealing with physical issues this season, including a lengthy knee injury in the spring and a recent first-round match withdrawal in Toronto.

Social media engagement also contributes to Lys's financial stability. She stated that she earns money through her social media activities, which provides a degree of financial security and helps her manage injuries. While she enjoys these activities, they have also developed into a personal brand. Lys, who has approximately 365,000 followers on Instagram, may return to competition at the tournament in Cincinnati, beginning August 13, following her recent injury break.
