The City of Essen has scheduled the commencement of structural renovation works for the former railway bridge spanning the Baldeneysee for Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The bridge, which has served as a pedestrian and cycling link since 1984, was closed in January due to safety concerns regarding its structural integrity.
