Legislator M. Rahmathulla Launches Local Fair

Movement toward home-grown textiles gathered momentum on July 27 as the district-level Onam Khadi fair commenced at the Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan in Manjeri. MLA M. Rahmathulla officially opened the proceedings. To mark the start of sales, the legislator presented the season's first khadi item to Shamlik Kurikkal, a member of the Manjeri municipal council.

Incentives for Government and Public Sector Employees

State-backed financial incentives define this year's shopping window. Consumers can access specific benefits through August 25, including:

  • A 30% government-sponsored rebate on all Khadi goods.
  • Interest-free credit arrangements for individuals employed in government and semi-government offices.
  • Credit facilities extended to banking and public sector institution staff.

Community Leadership Convenes for Kick-off

The event, presided over by T. Abbas, president of the Gandhi Sahitya Vedi district chapter, featured several prominent local figures. Speakers included Sarvodaya Sangham president K.K. Muraleedharan, treasurer M. Prakashan, and K.M.A. Shukoor of the Manjeri Press Forum. Representative of Gandhi Darshan Mukundan Meleth and social worker Saleena Pulpatta also addressed the assembly. Sarvodaya Sangham secretary Shyam Prasad M.K. opened the meeting, while Praveen T., the Khadi Bhavan manager, provided the concluding remarks.
