Director Madhu C Narayanan Breaks Five-Year Hiatus with New Naslen-Led Feature
The director of the acclaimed 2019 hit Kumbalangi Nights is returning to the silver screen. Rising star Naslen will take the lead role in a production backed by Silent Cat Films and Dr Ananthu.

The Return of Madhu C Narayanan
Following a significant break since his 2019 directorial debut, Kumbalangi Nights, filmmaker Madhu C Narayanan is preparing for his sophomore project. The announcement surfaced via a social media reel shared by Dr S Ananthu on July 27, 2026, confirming that production is scheduled to begin shortly. This new venture ends a five-year gap for the director, whose first film remains a benchmark for contemporary regional cinema.
Production Details and Leading Talent
Rising Malayalam actor Naslen has been cast in the lead role, continuing a professional streak that includes several high-profile upcoming titles. The film is a joint production venture between Dr Ananthu Productions and Narayanan's own banner, Silent Cat Films. This partnership marks a strategic move for the director as he navigates his return to the industry.
Naslen's Growing Portfolio
Naslen enters this project following his performance in Mollywood Times, a film directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak that explored the darker aspects of the film business. Critics noted that while the editing and voice-over techniques echoed Mukundan Unni Associates, the final act suffered from repetitive pacing. Beyond this collaboration with Narayanan, Naslen's current schedule remains dense with several major projects:
- Bachelor Party D’eux directed by Amal Neerad
- Tiki Taka directed by Rohith VS
- Torpedo directed by Tharun Moorthy
- A Tamil debut film directed by Jithu Madhavan, co-starring Suriya
The upcoming production provides an opportunity for Naslen to work with a filmmaker known for grounded, character-driven storytelling, contrasting the mixed reception of his most recent release.
