Coimbatore Police Commissioner Detains Four Suspects Under Resolute Goondas Act

Law Enforcement Targets Crypto Fraud and Narcotics
Coimbatore Police Commissioner N. Kannan has officially invoked the Goondas Act against four individuals recently apprehended in separate criminal investigations. This high-level administrative action aims to curb organized crime within the city limits, following recommendations from departmental inspectors.
Cybercrime Syndicate Neutralized
Authorities recently dismantled a scheme targeting non-resident Indians (NRIs) through fake financial opportunities. The Coimbatore city cybercrime police arrested three men connected to a significant digital currency scam:
- V. Janagan, age 23, from Konganagiri, Tiruppur district.
- R. Bharath, age 26, residing in Palladam.
- M. Udayakumar, age 38, from Mayiladuthurai.
The trio is accused of defrauding an NRI of ₹27.45 lakh. The suspects allegedly lured the victim under the guise of facilitating high-return cryptocurrency trading. Commissioner Kannan exercised his authority to apply the Goondas Act against these three specific individuals based on the formal assessment of the cybercrime Inspector.
Drug Trafficking Enforcement
In an unrelated operation targeting the illegal narcotics trade, the Kavundampalayam police unit apprehended 22-year-old R. Kishore on June 28. Kishore faced charges related to the distribution and peddling of ganja. To ensure public order and deter repeat offenses, the Commissioner included Kishore in the recent sweep of Goondas Act detentions. Official police releases confirmed that all four men will remain in custody under the stringent provisions of this legislation.
